INSTALLATION GUIDE: ULTICREATR 2X

- Calibrating the UC2X -

ulticreatr 2x kit

7.0 REQUIREMENTS

Time: 30 to 60 minutes
Tools: hex screwdriver (2mm)

7.1 LEVELING THE BUILD PLATFORM

• Level the build platform using the standard Ultimaker procedure.
• It is important to level the build plate only with the first nozzle (left). Make sure that the other nozzle (right) is not touching.

7.2 CALIBRATING THE Z HEIGHT

• Once the build platform is leveled we need to calibrate the height of the second nozzle (right).
• To do this you can turn clockwise and anti-clockwise the isolator with the holes.
• When turning the isolator it is important that there is no material inside the nozzle. Use the atomic method to clean the nozzle.
• Turn on the printer and manually move the print head towards the center-front.
• Manually raise the build platform until it touches the nozzles.
• Hold the build platform at the correct height by using the lead screw.
• Lower the second nozzle (right) by turning the isolator anti-clockwise until they are at the same height and both touching the buildplate.
• Check in various parts on the build platform.

7.3 CALIBRATING THE XY DISTANCE

• This phase is done by running a test print: 2X-xy-cal.gcode
• The test print should look like in the photo above.
• While printing the first layers check the Z height: if the inactive nozzle is scratching it means that the nozzles are not at the same height.
• It is possible to re-calibrate on the go: however you can only raise the nozzle. Never lower the nozzle or it could cause leakages.
• To do this you can re run the print with the cooling heatsink unscrewed. Do not let the print run more that 10 minutes or it could overheat.
• If the Z height is correct, let the print finish. It should take about 50 minutes.
• Once the print has finished check if the different colours are aligned.
• See the photo on how to adjust the XY distances.
• The correct tool offset therefore is: M218 T1 X18 "+(x)" Y0 "+(y)"
